Community Silent Auction Fundraiser to Benefit the Rancho San Diego Library Makerspace – May 20, 2017

When: Saturday, May 20th @ 6 PM
Where: Rancho San Diego Library (11555 Via Rancho San Diego)
Price of Admission: Any Donation Amount
*Appetizers & Refreshments will be served*

Dear Community Friends:

The Rancho San Diego Library has been a staple in our community for 15 years! In addition to offering a vast selection of books and media, they continue to fill the valuable role of community center, offering classes and workshops to continually serve our community. The RSD Library is funded through The San Diego County Library budget, so funding is shared by all of the libraries that make up the San Diego County Library system. That means our Rancho San Diego Library only receives limited funding each year to allow it to meet the needs of our community.

That’s where you come in. On May 20th, we [The Way Church] are hosting a silent auction fundraiser for the RSD Library, and are asking for generous donations of (tax deductible!) goods or services to be provided. Services, gift certificates, cash donations, promotional give-aways and discontinued or out of stock merchandise are all gladly accepted. No donation is too small!

Every dollar raised will go directly to our RSD Library for the purpose of enhancing its community makerspace. Their wish list includes tools, equipment, materials, and other items that will allow users to design, create, and build virtually anything they can imagine! This relatively new concept of a makerspace has been very well received by the community, and the interest continues to grow. Your contribution will prove invaluable to helping our library meet that growing need.

To express our gratitude, we would be honored to promote your organization or business at the auction, through social media, or in any other creative ways that might be helpful.

We are grateful, and thank you in advance for your generous support. We look forward to following up with you and partnering with you to show love and support to our RSD Library!

Your Friends at The Way

For questions or donations, please contact The Way Church. We will arrange to pick up any gift baskets or donated items. Please try to get your donations to us by May 17th. (We will be shrink wrapping them for you!)

Rally for Riley – Local Boy Diagnosed With Ewing’s Sarcoma

Rally for RileyDear Friends, Neighbors and Rancho San Diego Community Members,

Local boy, Riley Ransdall, has been diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma at 11 years old. Ewing’s is an extremely rare cancer that metastasizes in the bones and soft tissues around bones. Riley must undergo 13 weeks of chemotherapy, surgery to remove the tumor and then radiation. He must brave a total of 52 weeks ( an entire year) of treatment.

Riley is an active and bright boy. Until recently, he played little league in Alpine. He now plays Granite Hills Youth Football and is a Sweetwater Warrior at East County Warriors Youth Lacrosse Club. He currently attends Spring Valley Academy an International Baccalaureate Middle Years School, and is on the honor roll. Riley’s family has been in Alpine and San Diego County for over 40 years. [From Kristin Benson] Until recently, he lived down the street from my family and even though he is older than my children, he was always willing to play with them and include them. Not many 5th graders are willing to play with 6 and 7-year-olds. He is a kind and generous boy. My family is honored and blessed to know Riley and his family.

You can Help us Rally for Riley and support him and his family as he begins his treatment. Please read below to find information about donations, fundraisers, and other ways to help. There are 2 fundraisers coming up, one of which needs donations for auction items, monetary donations to buy supplies, and party supply rentals.

Dog House Donation Drive for Dogs in Need in Our Backcountry!

Last year 23 dog houses were donated and distributed to dogs in need in our local mountains!

It’s that time again…cold and snowy in Boulevard, east of Rancho San Diego in the mountains.  There are still many dogs that need dog houses and blankets to help them keep comfortable during these storms and even in the summer, to protect them from the heat.  If you have a dog house or blankets to donate, I will come and pick them up from you and distribute them as needed up here.  This is the 4th year I’ve done this.  You are helping so many dogs with your generous donations of houses and blankets.

Please call or text me at: (619) 964-1181 or e-mail me at Pam.Lawless@GCCCD.edu.  Thank you for your compassion for the animals. – Pam Lawless
