Set in pre-World War II Austria, a postulant (Mary Rose Vadeboncouer/Morgan Ingraham) proves too high-spirited for life at the abbey and is dispatched by Mother Abbess (Leanna Neely) to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval captain (Jackson Shaffer). Her growing rapport with the youngsters, coupled with her generosity of spirit captures the heart of the stern captain, and they marry. Upon returning from their honeymoon, they discover that Austria has been invaded by the Nazis, who demand the Captain’s immediate service in their navy. The family’s narrow escape over the mountains to Switzerland on the eve of World War II provides one of the most thrilling and inspirational finales ever presented in the theatre. “Climb Every Mountain…till you find your dream”.

Exploring the Anza Borrego Region with Diana Lindsay – January 23, 2018

Come join us for a special presentation at the Rancho San Diego Library on January 23, 2018 at 6:30 PM! Diana Lindsay will be introducing the new edition of her guidebook, Anza Borrego Desert Region.

The Rancho San Diego Library is located at 11555 Via Rancho San Diego.

For almost 40 years The Anza-Borrego Desert Region has been the most comprehensive guidebook for Anza-Borrego Desert State Park (ABDSP), Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area (OWSVRA), and the surrounding region including federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) desert lands. It is the only guidebook needed for desert hikers, campers, 4WD explorers, mountain bikers, equestrians, and the casual visitor. It includes historical and cultural information as well as natural history of the area. It has been vetted by Park and BLM staff to make sure all descriptions are accurate. This easy-to-use guide includes a backpocket map, highway mileages, and comprehensive road and trail logs. The new 6th Edition has been updated and includes new areas that are now completely part of ABDSP, including more acreage in the Laguna Mountains and direct connecting trails to adjacent Cuyamaca Rancho State Park.

Diana Lindsay is the author, coauthor, or editor of more than 10 books that delve into the cultural and natural history of primarily the desert region of San Diego County. Her research and writing career began with the publication of her master’s thesis from San Diego State University by Copley Books in 1973 as Our Historic Desert: The Story of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. She is the recipient of numerous awards for her work in support of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.
