Rancho SD Library Events

June is here!  Check out the attached Rancho San Diego Library Calendar and flyers to see all of the fun, FREE programs happening at the library this month. In addition to the library’s regularly occurring events, some special events this month include:

  • Featured Artists: Group show “Gorgeous Gardens” featuring works in various media celebrating flowers and gardens on display through June.
  • First Tuesday: KEV (June 6) – An evening of music from guitar master Kevin Rones.
  • Dance and Music from Cajon Valley Middle School’s Folklorico (June 17) – Come enjoy this special family event, put on by talented students from Cajon Valley!
  • DIY Terrarium (June 22) – Create a miniature living world. All materials provided.
  • Sing & Dang with Hullabaloo! (June 27) – The library will be kicking off the Kids’ Summer Reading Challenge (Reading by Design) with this fun event – Come sing and dance with us!

Fun, Free Events for Water Agency Customer Appreciation Day! – May 21, 2017

Water Agency Appreciation

The Water Conservation Garden is pleased to host a special “appreciation day” for ratepayers of Helix and Otay Water Districts, Sweetwater Authority and the City of San Diego. The Water Agency Customer Appreciation Day will be on Sunday, May 21, 9:00am to 2:00pm

Visit your Water District Booth for a coupon to get your FREE Kona Ice Shaved Ice treat!  Kona Ice supports The Garden; their mission is all about the community and giving back. Visit the American Flavors Food Truck to fill your bellies with delicious burgers or dogs, then enjoy some sweets from our Bake Sale!

El Cajon Dog and Cat Animal Rescue Adoption Events Every Friday & Saturday!

Find true love at the El Cajon Dog and Cat Animal Rescue Adoption Events every Friday (11 am – 4 pm) and Saturday (11 am – 5 pm)!

Come meet several dogs and cats that are eager to give you their love and find your perfect match!

The Adoption Events are located at Petco in Rancho San Diego – 2510 Jamacha Road, El Cajon CA. 92019.

GMIA 4th Annual Succulent Swap – May 13, 2017

Free admission. Everyone is welcome!

Where: 10805 Melva Rd, La Mesa, CA 91941
When: Saturday, May 13th – 10 am to 12 pm

Get a jump start on water-wise gardening at GMIA’s 4th Annual Succulent Swap. Fill in your landscape with low water, low maintenance plants.

Bring cuttings or plants to share, but don’t be shy if you are just getting started and don’t have any extra plants – our generous participants always bring lots and there is plenty for all. Plus, get information on growing beautiful plumerias in our region!

GMIA will provide coffee and light snacks to round out the morning.

Enjoy the magnificent two acre garden of GMIA members who graciously are hosting this event in their inspiring low water Wonderland.

All are welcome (no pets please); this event is open to the community.

Free Kids’ Yoga Class at Bloom Yoga – May 27, 2017

Bloom Yoga now features KIDS’ YOGA! Kids’ Yoga will be on Saturdays at 10:30 AM and will start in June.

Yoga is a fantastic choice for your child – Introducing them to yoga at a young age helps them adapt healthy lifestyle habits and set a foundation for an active, fit life!

Yoga also helps kids to:

  • Develop body awareness
  • Learn how to use their bodies in a healthy way
  • Manage stress through breathing, awareness, meditation and healthy movement
  • Build concentration
  • Increase their confidence and positive self-image
  • Feel part of a healthy, non-competitive group
  • Have an alternative to tuning out through constant attachment to electronic devices
