Dog House Donation Drive 2017 for Dogs in Need in Our Backcountry!

Last year 23 dog houses were donated and distributed to dogs in need in our local mountains!

It’s that time again…cold and snowy in Boulevard, east of Rancho San Diego in the mountains.  There are still many dogs that need dog houses and blankets to help them keep comfortable during these storms and even in the summer, to protect them from the heat.  If you have a dog house or blankets to donate, I will come and pick them up from you and distribute them as needed up here.  This is the 5th year I’ve done this.  You are helping so many dogs with your generous donations of houses and blankets.

Please call or text me at: (619) 964-1181 or e-mail me at Pam.Lawless@GCCCD.edu.  Thank you for your compassion for the animals. – Pam Lawless

About the Steele Canyon Players Drama Booster Club:

The Steele Canyon Players’ Mission is to provide an outlet for passionate performers to express their love of theatre, and to inspire others through personal and group development in an encouraging and professional environment.

Steele Canyon High School’s standards-based theatre curriculum is designed with the fundamental belief that the arts should be taught for their intrinsic value. At every level/dimension of the theatre coursework, students broaden their knowledge, and challenge their abilities as actors and producers of theatre, while developing a strong understanding of stagecraft, acting practices, audition/rehearsal techniques, character development, and script writing/analysis. Additionally, theatre history, culture, and design methodologies will be examined and career opportunities are explored.

Coast to Cactus With Diana Lindsay – November 14, 2017

Rancho San Diego Library

More about Coast to Cactus, from sandiegoreader.com:

Coast to Cactus: The Canyoneer Trail Guide to San Diego Outdoors, released in September, 2016, is almost 600 pages long and weighs more than two and a half pounds. It contains descriptions of 245 outings (and 73 optional extension hikes) prepared by one of the best-respected hiking organizations in the county.

Diana says the Canyoneers “want people to come back from their hike and have learned something.” The color photos, the comprehensive index, the table of common and scientific plant and animal names all are intended to foster the learning process. “We intend for people to not be racing to finish a hike, but to be slow. To look around. To listen. To smell. And figure out: what is in this habitat. Why is it a hot spot? We want everybody to finish their hike and say, ‘Wow, I didn’t know that.’ If you learn to appreciate these things, you start to love them, and you will be more inclined to protect them.”

Free Concert at Rancho San Diego Library Featuring Lisa Sanders – November 7, 2017

Join the Rancho San Diego Library for Novembers’s First Tuesday event on November 7th, featuring Lisa Sanders! The concert will take place at 6:30 PM. The Rancho San Diego Library is located at 11555 Via Rancho San Diego.

A bit about Lisa Sanders:

Lisa started singing and writing at an early age. She dreamed of one day being a songwriter for the stars. As time went on, Lisa was spotted singing in a coffee house by Cargo Records. After a great chase, Lisa was  signed to the label as a singer and songwriter. Shortly after that, she signed with MCA for a distribution deal as well as publishing through Windswept Pacific. Lisa Sanders now has eight CD releases to her credit: five released on her own label, Maya Jade Music.

Lisa’s CD Shiver was nominated for The San Diego Music Awards Best Pop Album. Shiver took years to write and record. Lisa sings each and every song with honesty, passion and the conviction that anything is possible! She is a two-time San Diego Best Acoustic Artist, a Readers’ Poll Best Acoustic Artist, Third Place Telluride Bluegrass Festival New Folk Winner, The National Women’s Association Living Legacy Recipient, and National Association of Professional Women Legacy Award Recipient. The Country/Bluesy/Americana sound of Lisa Sanders is genuine, heart-felt and well-crafted. Each song is sung with true conviction and meaning. Her raw talent has garnered tremendous accolades, earning opening spots with artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams, BB King, and many more.
