Happy AUGUST! Check out the attached Rancho San Diego Library Calendar and flyers to see all of the fun, FREE programs happening at the library this August. In addition to the library’s regularly occurring events, some special events this month include:

  • Featured Artists: “Let’s Take a Vacation”, an all media show by local artists, on display through August.
  • Paws to Read (Mondays, 1-2 pm): Practice reading to Bailey, a friendly dog.
  • First Tuesday: Adler & Blackburn (August 7): Musical duo Robin Adler and Dave Blackburn perform songs of Joni Mitchell, jazz standards, and original works.

Santa Sophia St. Vincent de Paul Rummage Sale – June 30, 2018

Santa Sophia’s St. Vincent de Paul Pantry is holding a thrift/rummage sale on SATURDAY, JUNE 30, 9am – 2pm. Come shop through new and used items at bargain prices! There will be designer labels, clothes, glassware, home goods, jewelry, great deals on clothes (most only $1!), toys, books, CDs, and so much more!

All proceeds benefit the Santa Sophia Roofing Fund.

Location: Santa Sophia Church – 9800 San Juan Street, Spring Valley, CA 91977 (One block north of Campo, west of Bonita Street).

  • Featured Artists: “On the Wild Side”, wildlife portrayed by local artists on display through June.
  • Art & Architecture of Northern Spain (June 2): Discover the art and architecture of northern Spain as seen along the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage trail. Join artist Amanda Schaffer as she discusses the Camino’s cultural heritage.
  • First Tuesday: Alberto Corrales (June 5): Performance featuring a master of Cuban Music!
  • Introduction to Zentangle (June 25): Learn how to relax while drawing beautiful images.
  • Celebrate the USA: An Old-Fashioned Independence Day Festival (June 30): Get ready for the 4th of July with music, games, crafts, and much more. Sparkles the Clown and musical group Trails and Rails will perform!

Free “First Tuesday” Concert June 2018: Alberto Corrales

Join us for June’s First Tuesday concert at the Rancho San Diego Library on June 5 at 6:30 pm!

This month’s “First Tuesday” is presented by Alberto Corrales. Alberto Corrales is a Cuban flutist, composer and music teacher from Guanabacoa, Havana. He is also known as “the wonderful flute”.
