Off-Leash Dog Park Progress Update and Next Meeting

On Saturday, February 18, the community had it’s first meeting about getting an off-leash dog park in our area, led by community member Pam Dykstra. It was a great meeting full of productive discussion! Here are our next points of action:

Awareness

  1. Start a petition / place sign up sheets in local pet businesses for other pet owners who would like an off-leash dog park to sign
  2. Put out a table at Petco on weekends when they bring in the dogs that need homes
  3. Take these lists to Dianne Jacobs’ office to show how many of her constituents want a dog park

Funding/Expenses

  1. Look into sponsorships to fund the park
  2. Contact Dianne Jacobs’ office to pinpoint exactly what we need to do as far as permits, acceptable locations, and requirements

Next Meeting

March 11th, 1 pm – 3 pm
Rancho San Diego Library Seminar Room

If you have any questions, ideas, or just need more information, contact Pam Dykstra at (619) 990-0141 (call or text) or email at dykstra.pam@gmail.com

I’d love to see one out here. Do you have a location you’re looking at?

    • I just spoke to Pam Dykstra, who is in charge of this, and she said that she has contacted her title company to see if any vacant properties in the Rancho SD area a possibility. Another possibility is reaching out to Sycuan and Hollywood Casino to see if they would be interested in either sponsoring the park, or donating land they’re not currently using. A lot of ideas are being kicked around right now and they’re looking for any ideas the community may have… I bet that after the next meeting on March 11, there will be some stronger leads!

Maybe Cuyamaca College or Skyline Church off Hwy 94 has some land that could be used/leased???
